A Viking's Halloween

Many of you know of Gabe's obsession with How to Train Your Dragon. So...for Halloween this year, he dressed up as:

Hiccup!

He was so excited when he tried his costume on a few days ago--he had to go brush up on his dragon-training skills.

Running

Rock-Finding

Squats

Stair-Climbing

 Pole-Swinging

Dandelion-Plucking

and, of course, lots and lots of Pondering

Whew! Once his training was out of the way, Gabe was ready to face Halloween head on.
We started the day with some necessary chair exercises,

filled our bellies with some hearty pancakes,

and brushed up on our viking vernacular while watching How to Train. (this is Gabe's favorite cuddle position lately. the baby doesn't think too fondly of it, though.)

Then, later this afternoon, it was off to Trunk-or-Treating!

He couldn't get enough of the balloons.

Phil took him around to do the treating, and it was hard. He had a few breakdowns along the way. Once after he was given a tootsie roll. Another, when a sucker was put in his bucket.

Just had to throw this booger one in.  All the kids had boogers - it was pretty nippy outside.

Hope you all enjoyed your Halloween as much as we did!
See ya later!

What's happening in our corner of the world?

Well...Gabe's been watching a lot of movies. This ↑ is his movie-watching face.  Mostly, it's been Despicable Me, Tangled, and How To Train Your Dragon. Basically, way more movies than he should.  But, hey, come back and criticize when you are 40 weeks pregnant.

Speaking of which...

I made it! Well, almost.  In a few more hours, I'll be 40 weeks.  I visited the dr. today, but it doesn't look like we'll be having an October baby.

Here's Phil, utterly annoyed that we still don't have a baby. And that I'm taking a picture of him at the dinner table :)

Phil also makes this face when he stumbles upon...
This is Gabe playing with his "learning activities." Phil, rather un-fondly refers to them as his "crafts." The reason Phil groans every time he sees Gabe playing with them is because of the Ginormous mess that happens - marbles, beads, pompoms, pipe cleaners, clothespins - scatter the floor when he's done. Personally, I don't mind the mess too much, but when Phil happened upon Gabe's room this morning, his exact words were: "Oh no...The craft fairy vomited all over Gabe's floor." Oh Phil...
Gabe enjoys the mess, though. Especially when he's pantless.  Everything is better without pants.

In other news, I have been working on Christmas gifts until late in the night since sleep doesn't come so easy anymore. But, I can't post a picture of them in case one of you will be a lucky recipient.

I've almost finished reading Dracula. I wanted to finish before Halloween, but it's not looking promising especially since I got my walking foot back from the quilting shop, which means I'll be quilting tonight instead of reading.

Tomorrow, I'll post some pictures of Gabe in his costume.

That's a wrap.

Jaycee Park

The weather warmed up suddenly today. It's been pretty cold lately; so cold, in fact, that we've been discouraged from going outside at all. So, we (as in Gabe and I) took advantage of the sun and went to the park, leaving Phil at home to study for blocks on Monday. This kid is obsessed with swinging.  If I didn't force him to go play on other parts of the playground, he would stay in the swings for hours. He's usually so serious when swinging, but I got some smiles today.

Sugar Cookies

Phil's favorite cookie.  Now, Gabe's favorite cookie too. I let him (Gabe) help me cut them out and put them on the pan. He was definitely more interested in the flour - rubbing it all over himself and watching it slowly fall to the floor after throwing it.

The best way to make sugar cookies? Pantless, of course!
