Reaping Easter

I realize that Easter was a week ago (almost), but we are still reaping the benefits here.  For one, sidewalk chalk.  This is one of the things Gabe got from the Easter bunny this year, and it was a winner.  I wasn't so sure it would be since he really has no interest in drawing.  Period.  He would rather spend his time taking lids off pens and then putting them on again, or taking crayons out of their box and then replacing them (of course, no matter how many times he puts them back in the box, I always find them scattered across the living room floor...and in the bathtub...and in the garbage!

Speaking of the garbage, guess what I found in there this morning.  Phil's cell phone.  I had tried calling Phil a number of times while he was at school yesterday, and it wasn't until late last night that he asked me if I had seen his phone because he had been missing it all day.  I promptly checked under the bed since that is usually where it ends up after he turns off his alarm in the morning.  No phone.  This morning, as he was walking out the door, Phil asked again if I'd seen his phone.  Nope.  After he left, I called it and called it and walked around the house listening carefully.  I finally heard a buzzing and followed it to the kitchen.  As I got closer to the garbage can I started praying: Please don't let it be in the garbage can.  Please let it be behind the garbage can or in the cupboards next to the garbage can. But alas, in the garbage can it was.  Buried (probably had been all day yesterday) beneath an empty thing of oreos and...wait for it...egg yolks.  Yes, Phil's phone was saturated in egg yolks.  He doesn't know this.  Nor will he ever, unless he reads this blog (hopefully he'll just scan through the pictures), and I would prefer it that way since he'll know immediately that it was I who let Gabe play with his phone yesterday morning.

Ok. Tangent over. Back to chalk.  Every time I take the chalk out, Gabe gets super excited.  I take him outside and open the box, after which he proceeds to take every last piece of chalk out.  He draws all over our porch, and then runs to the neighbors' porch and draws on it.  Then, he draws on our front door and the siding of the house, and then he throws the chalk in the dirt, runs to the street and throws it in the gutter (laughing, mind you because I'm running after him).  After the street, he takes it to the parking lot and draws on the car, gives the chalk a little taste and then brings all the pieces back and puts them in the box :)

Another fun Easter gift Gabe got was from his grandma and grandpa Ross.  A BYU outfit! He started rubbing his belly as soon as I put it on, so it definitely is a winner.  Here he is right after he got dressed.  See how pleased he is?

Here he is eating some pizza for dinner. Our power was out all afternoon and into the early evening, so rather than have cold leftovers or uncooked pasta noodles, we went for pizza.  It was a hit to say the least. For Gabe and for Phil.

And, here he is eating pizza on one foot.
