On the Playground

We've been having on and off warm days for awhile now.  Yesterday was one of the really warm/sunny days so Gabe and I went to the park.  As soon as I open the car door and he sees where we are, he screams (a good happy yelp sort of scream) and struggles to get out of the car as fast as he can.  Yesterday, unfortunately, he had to sit and wait through a painstakingly long rub-over with the sunscreen.  The first sunscreen of the year!  He played so hard - climbing, running, sliding (only once because the slide was so hot it burnt him), picking up sticks and swinging - and afterward, sweat was dripping from the sides of his beat-red face.

Bubbles

The weather has been awesome! We're talking 81 today! The last few days, Gabe has been a little sicky, so we've stayed in and missed most of the nice sunshine...until today.  He was feeling better, so we went outside, armed with our new giant bubble maker. He was in heaven.  The bubbles were fun, but the tag from the bubble maker - way funner.

No worries about Gabe's sickness.  It was just a cold, and he is pretty much back to normal today.

Microwaves

Last week, all of the plugs on our kitchen wall went out.  Which means: no toaster and no microwave.  So, instead of performing the backbreaking and painstakingly awful labor of calling our landlord, I came up with a brilliant idea: just move the microwave back and forth from the counter (when it's not needed) to the floor (when we need to heat something up). Not only is it great exercise, but it also doubles as a learning tool for Gabe.  He has learned that when he pushes the buttons it makes a noise, that when he opens the door a light comes on, and when he opens the door mid-heat steam comes out. Gabe also has discovered that the round glass plate in the microwave is removable and can be carried around the house, and that more things can fit in the microwave that in the spice drawer (i.e. his sippy cup, my cell phone, balls, markers, food he doesn't want, dirty diapers, etc...). But, most importantly, he loves to sit on the microwave.  He wiggles his way on top and then sits with his legs dangling off and drinks his milk.

Here he is standing on the microwave, trying to take his shirt off.

The attempt was unsuccessful.

Point: Microwaves are awesome.
